Transportation and Logistics Management Students Honored
Richard
Sommerville III
Richard Sommerville III of Superior, a senior
majoring in Transportation and Logistics Management at UW-Superior, was awarded
a grant from the Twin Cities Roundtable of the Council of Logistics Management,
(CLM). The grant covered all expenses for Sommerville
to attend the Council of Logistics Management annual conference as a student
intern.
With more than 15,000 members, the Council is the largest
organization dedicated to improving logistics through leadership, education and
exchange of ideas. The Twin Cities Roundtable represents more than 200 members
in Northwestern Wisconsin and Northeastern Minnesota
as well as the Twin Cities metro area. UW-Superior students majoring in
Transportation and Logistics
Management and their professors have attended the Council's regular
meetings. The CLM and its Twin Cities roundtable have of long history of
encouraging student involvement through grants, scholarships, tours of
facilities and student participation in roundtable meetings. More information

The 2000 CLM annual conference was held September 24-27 in New Orleans. As a student
intern, Sommerville split
his time between providing support services at the conference and attending
presentations and meeting practicing professionals.
Josh Hallberg
Josh Hallberg of Milltown, Wisconsin,
a junior majoring in Transportation and Logistics Management at UW-Superior,
received a scholarship from the Wisconsin Airport Managers Association.
The $500 scholarship is awarded to a student in the
Transportation and Logistics Management program who maintains at least a 3.0
grade point average and receives a recommendation from the program's director.
In addition, the student must submit a paper on a current management issue of
concern to airport managers. The papers submitted are judged by the Association
and a winner is selected.
The scholarship was presented to Josh on August 28 during
the transportation seminar at UW- Superior.
