About the scholarships

The dean of Students Office is taking applications for scholarships supported by the Optimist Club Scholarship, the Joe Long Leadership Scholarship, the William H.Mummings Scholarship, And Oluf Haugsrud Scholarship funds.

Optimist Club Scholarship- Tao Scholarships worth $500.00 will be awarded.

To qualify for the Optimist Club Scholarship, the student must have:

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0; continuing student
  • Been involved in campus/off-campus organizations (i.e. athletics, student organization, community service…)
  • Set a positive example for youth/peers
  • Commitment to service of youth/peers in community

Joe Long Scholarship – One scholarship worth $600.00 will be awarded

To qualify for the Joe Long Leadership, the student must have:

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.25; continuing student
  • Been a member of a student organization on campus
  • Demonstrated outstanding leadership
  • Proof of financial need(a copy of your most recent Financial Aid Award Letter or a copy of the Financial Aid Award summary from your e-hive account will work)

Oluf Haugsrud Scholarship – Four scholarships worth $1000.00 will be awarded

To qualify for the Oluf Haugsrud Scholarship, the student must have:

  • Proof of academic merit
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0; continuing student
  • Participated in significant community service project
  • Demonstrated outstanding leadership

William H. Mummings Scholarship – One scholarships worth $350.00 will be awarded to non-traditional student

To qualify for the William H.Mummings Scholarship, the student must have:

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5; continuing student
  • Must be at least 25years of age or older and working on their first undergraduate degree
  • Demonstrated dedication to their education
  • Involvement in Campus Life at UW-Superior

Directions

    1. Complete the Dean of Students Scholarship Information sheet making sure to sign the permission to check for GPA
    2. Fill out both the Scholarship Application and Designated Scholarship forms for each scholarship you are applying for.
    3. Obtain two letters of recommendation which include:
      1. The length of time the reference has known the applicant and in what capacity
      2. A statement of why the applicant deserves to receive a Dean of Student Scholarship
    4. Return all of the above by Friday, April 15, 2005 to the following address:
