of Lake Superior Aquatic Life
Examine the unique physical, chemical and biological
features of the world's largest freshwater lake. Discover
how exotic species threaten the unique balance of life in
Lake Superior. This exploration includes a field trip aboard
the University research vessel The LL Smith, Jr.
- Geology of Lake Superior:
A Trip in Our Time Machine
Travel back in time billions of years to review the
volcanic, earthquake and mountain building history of this
beautiful area. This session includes a day-long field trip
to ancient earthquake belts.
- Aquatic Entomology of the Brule River
Explore the forests and trout fishery along the famous Brule River.
Discuss water quality. Collect, identify and use aquatic insects
and other macro invertebrates to evaluate the Brule's pristine waters.
