Will further training in Legal Studies be useful to me in my current job or help me advance my education or career?

The law is impacting almost every employment area in the country: more regulation, more rules, more requirements and more protections. Knowledge of the law, how it works, how to research it, how to understand it and how to operate within its parameters is essential in today's job market. Almost every career today benefits from knowledge about the law. Learning about the law through Legal Studies will provide that knowledge base to be confident, comfortable and competent in dealing with the law that is a part of your career. It can allow you lateral career moves and expand the base of competency that you offer your employer. If you have an interest in advancing your education in graduate school or law school, a Legal Studies degree or paralegal education can help equip you for this.

Since 1999, the Center for Continuing Education has worked with the Legal Studies department at UW-Superior to provide a schedule of classes that leads to a Certificate in Medication/Conflict Resolution.  Go to Mediation/Conflict Resolution Programs for more information and to view the complete catalog.

Beginning in fall 2005, the Center for Continuing Education will offer the Paralegal Certificate Program, part of the ongoing tradition of paralegal education at UW-Superior since 1983. Go to Paralegal Certificate Program page for more information
